Steps for Meal Tracker Tool

The meal tracker tool works similarly to the weight tracker tool, but you will keep track of your meals rather than your weight. As you enter data, you will be able to look at the food you consume and determine how it lines up with your weight goals. This gives you an opportunity to make positive changes if your diet isn’t helping you achieve your weight loss goals.

How to Fill Out the Meal Tracker

You can use the meal tracker tool to add everything you eat into the program. You can start with your breakfast. Follow these steps:

  1. Scroll to the Breakfast heading

  2. Click on Add Meal

  3. When the popup window appears, click on the Manually button

  4. The popup will ask you to fill out a form, including the following

    1. Name of food

    2. Description

    3. Calories

    4. Unit input areas

  5. You can add each item as a meal until you include everything you ate or drank

  6. Click Save

You will find different categories for your meals in this program, including the following:

  • Breakfast

  • Mid-morning

  • Lunch

  • Afternoon

  • Dinner

  • Evening

When you enter your meals, it is a good idea to enter each item that you ate separately. This way you will have a more detailed record, which will provide you with more data. For example, if you eat a banana, oatmeal, and coffee for breakfast, you would enter three meals under the Breakfast category:

  1. Meal one would be your banana

  2. Meal two would be your oatmeal

  3. Meal three would be your coffee

The program will add the calories together so that you will know both the individual data and the data for the entire meal.

Using this program will help you see where you can cut back and where you have room to add calories. Over time, you will learn how to put together a diet that is ideal for helping you reach your goals.

What to Include

You should enter everything you eat or drink to get a true read of how many calories you are taking in on a daily basis. You can also include how much water you drink, even though there are no calories in water. Your daily water intake is important for your health, and it will help you make sure that you are drinking enough of it.

Some people want to fill out the meal tracker after every meal, and others keep a running list of what they eat and enter the meals all at once at the end of the day. You can choose the method that is most convenient for you, but it is very important that you make it part of your everyday routine. You will not be able to get an accurate idea of your caloric intake unless you input all of the data completely every day.

If you eat the same meal from time to time, you can simplify the meal entry process. You can click on Add Meal, and then choose Search for a Meal. A menu will drop down with your past meals, and you can choose the one that you want to enter. Once you have foods entered that you eat regularly, this will make the process a lot easier.

How to Use the Graph

As you move toward your weight goals, you can also track the food you eat. You will end up with a graph that shows you how many calories you take in every day, and you can track it over time. If you notice that your weight loss isn’t what you want it to be, you can go to your meal tracker to make a plan to change your diet. It is a lot easier to determine where you need to make changes when you have this data available.

The most important thing is to make sure that you enter everything you eat into the Meal Tracker. This will give you the data you need to track your diet, compare it to your weight changes, and understand how your diet is affecting your weight. When you have the data available in this way, you can make the adjustments you need to reach your goals.
